This falls, large rock outcropping and small gorge is well worth visiting and has easy drive-up access. Pine Creek's Rock Dam Falls is located in the state forest Northeast of Iron Mountain. From Iron Mountain head West on US Hyy 2 to M-95. On M-95 go north about 4 miles to Sportsmen's Club Road. Turn east (right) and travel about 2 miles to Carney Lake Rd. (a "T" in the road). Turn South (right) and go about one mile (you'll go through a former gravel pit, but the road is graded), and you'll come to a wye in the road. Stay right. You'll now be on a slightly rougher, curvy, hiily road (in Summer this is no problem for cars; in Winter you may want 4WD or AWD). This road is called Forest Service Road on Google Maps. Go about 1 mile. You'll see a dirt lane on your left. On a large red pine is a sign that says "Rock Dam". Pull into the turn-around and park. Walk the path, cross over Hosking Creek wooden bridge and Pine Creek and Rock Dam are right there. You can follow the trail up the rocks to the left of the creek up to the top, or you can cross two narrow footbridges to the other side of Pine Creek and follow those trails. There are no ammenities. Bring your own water, walking stick and good hiking shoes.
